People always say ‘print is dead’ or allude to it through clever analogies things that are dead (or dieing), you know like, “You better be careful or you will go the way of the news paper”… I feel like my dad has said that a few times and while it sounds daunting, the man still picks up a Sunday paper every week, so obviously going that way can’t be all bad right?
I digress. The point is, I love print. I love real books, real magazine, real tangible objects I can hold and devour with my eyes (yes, I am a self proclaimed web junky and feedly is my current stream of choice [though if you know of a better service stop holding out and tell me!]… and without the internet readers where would I be?). There is something romantic about the idea of curling up on the sofa with a book and a cup of coco isn’t there? I mean… You can’t exactly snuggle with a kindle (despite it’s name it is quite cold and uninviting). I am not alone in feeling this way either (obviously because book stores and newsstands still exist), which gives me hope.
There is nothings quite like finding a new book or discovering a new magazine. So I figured, what the hay (PG you guys), why not share some magazine I’m digging right now:
Frankie Magazine is the absolute cutest! It is based out of Australia and I am absolutely addicted to the way in which their writers phrase things (they also have an amazing mens version called Smith Journal).
Chickpea is a quarterly treat in the form of a publication, featuring all of the latest and greatest goodies in the vegan realm.
I may be bias (because I work with them quite a bit) but Darling does such a wonderful job at projecting a positive message into the world, not to mention they are willing to discuss taboo topics in refreshing ways.
The Gentlewoman, le sigh! Such a brilliant magazine, get it, buy it, do it.
Monocle is always a good read. Drew is obsessed with it and I learn something new with every issue.
The Lab is such a brilliant take on art, fashion, photography, film, and culture. Their style is unique and I enjoy how they place everything together in each issue.
What do you like to snuggle up with? Is there a book or magazine you would recommend? Dish!
