RAIL

Riddle me this… why is it very thin people make all, and I do mean ALL, of the fashions look good!? It simply isn’t fair!

Every time I flip through a magazine, look at street style photos, and scroll through all of my favorite fash-a-fied blogs, I think to myself, “wow, that layered look is so amazing” or “I love the way those angles intersect” or “her use of color and texture is brilliant!” and then I go and try to replicate the styles only to be greeted by what appears to be a color blind bag-lady standing in front of the mirror (and not a cool, chic bag lady). It is shameful really.

Granted, I am not a size negative six, so I should avoid wearing certain things (print and color are two things I shy away from… not because I can’t wear them… but because I’m never sure how to place them on my body without feeling like a cat dunked in water [awkward and slightly pissed off]). This is the law of the universe right? We all have our own style, we all go our own way, but you guys, I want to look good in everything like all the twiggy clackers milling in the streets at fashion week.

What I want to know, is there a happy middle ground? Is there a magical designer who makes clothes that look good on a real woman’s body? Zara perhaps… but you know what I mean.

How do you find what works best on you? Where do you look for fashion inspiration?

Dressing for your body type is an art form. To those of you who do it well, I applaud you! You inspire me and I envy your talent. I will  figure out how to dress my euro distorted highbred frame one of these days… for now however, I will stick to my uniform of oversized white t-shirts and skinny black pants (which I am wearing even now…).

xx
