Last week Drew and I found ourselves seated at the counter of Handsome Coffee next to a man who has brought laughter into millions of homes for decades.
Drew and I recently fell in love with Seinfeld (the sitcom), it was love from the first tacky moment it graced the screen. Not that we didn’t know who Jerry was before, but after watching his mullet topped, blouse clad, white sneaker adorned self sauntering through episode after episode, we found our selves with an appreciation for him… he was endearing, charming, and funny as all hell!
So last week when Jerry sat down two feet from my left elbow you would have thought it was Gandhi or Mother Teresa, such was my reverence for the man. I couldn’t have been more nervous, after all, he is a unicorn (perhaps it was the lavender blouse and the etherial glow about him [real or imagined]). Think about it, here is this guy who has more talent that 90% of human beings, a better work ethic than your dad, and more money than a small country; it is impressive and intimidating to say the least.
Seeing him in person grew our admiration ten fold, if we thought he was awesome before, we now found him to be the absolute coolest. We have watched nearly every episode of Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee (do yourself a favor, go watch the Sarah Silverman one, Ricki Jervase, and Alic Baldwin…go on, you won’t regret it, I promise), we are addicted. It is now a life goal to see him perform standup live, though I may have to sell my life for tickets. He is really that great, I swear.
Jerry, if, by some miracle you read this, let’s grab coffee some time and chat about our mutual love of cars, comedy, and pancakes. I may not be a comedian but, I swear I’m funny (sometimes).
