30/30

By a strange twist of fate I found myself on a 'fundraising' page the other day. Now, I am extremely jaded and cynical... ok that is a lie, but I don't usually promote random charities to those around me, I give discreetly and then move on with life (no offense to those of you who wear your do-gooder nature on your sleeves).

This story however, plucked at my heart strings and I wanted to share it with you (do-gooder alert!). Ryan Lewis and Macklemore have joined together to form a new charity known as the 30/30 Project, so named for Lewis' mother who is a 30 year surviver of HIV.

In 1984 Ryans mother, Julie, was unknowingly given a blood transfusion that was HIV positive, putting not only her own life, but the lives of her unborn children at risk. Given the appropriate care she is thriving today, but many people (around the globe) do not have access to the care Julie was able to receive, which is why the 30/30 Project was created, to give people everywhere access to better, more effective health care.

Obviously I would never push anyone to act upon my words (encourage maybe, but whatever). Even if you don't give, share, this project is small, but it has the potential to change the lives of millions of people across the globe. You may never know the effect you have, but somewhere someones life was forever altered for the better because... ok no, I will not guilt trip, just think about it... that is all I am asking.

xx
