I have always know that words carry power, the constant child hood reminders of, "If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all" or "be careful what you wish for" ring more and more true in my ears. The power we speak, the power of thoughts and intention.
While in a creative meeting the other day, a friend spoke of Dr.Emoto, a man who has, quite literally, proven the incredible power of the words we speak. Dr.Emoto placed rice into three separate beakers, speaking to each in tern everyday for one month. To the first he said, "thank you", the second "you are an idiot", and the third he ignored entirely. The results were astounding.
By speaking positivity and thankfulness into the world (the first beaker) he saw the grains begin to flourish and ferment. This, he says, is important, it shows how we need to be speaking to others (especially children) and to ourselves.
The second vial of rice turned black. Degrading from the words that caused it harm over the 30 days. How much more so do we degrade our own spirits every time we think of ourselves as stupid, ugly, or incompetent?
The third, which he ignored, simply rotted. Left on it's own it lacked purpose of any kind and faded into a mold covered pile of mush. Ignoring those around us or things within ourselves is far worse than acknowledging their existence and facing the reality of what they truly are.
If a grain of rice can be so affected by our energy and our words, how much more so are our spirits and the spirits of those around us affected?
The friend who spoke of Dr.Emoto also spoke of how she is now trying to start and end each day with positive affirmations. She and her husband have started using more positive language and try to interact on a more healthful playing field. Obviously, this won't always work, honesty will go a long way in your life, especially when it is hard. However, not bringing negativity into your world may go even farther.
What will you think about, say, when all you want to do is be negative and nasty? Start small... "Today is beautiful, isn't it?" "I really like my eyes..." "I love your dress" Send someone a text telling them you are thankful for them, you are happy they are in your life. The energy you emit will come back to you in full over time and you too will flourish (I realize this sounds like a bunch of hippie bull shit, but, it is all true, go watch the video and have your mind blown).
You are all beautiful, wonderful, human beings, and I am thankful for every last one of you!
xx
