A HAIRY SITUATION

Let's be honest (I know I say that a lot... but consider this a safe space; also I would never lie to you intentionally, anyways...) all hair is not created equal! There are people who have glorious flowing tresses that effortlessly fall in perfect waves WITHOUT even blowdrying (absolutely unfair), there are people like me who look like they stuck their finger in an outlet if said hair is allowed to air dry, and there are people who simply try to ignore everything nature is telling them, sigh heavily, and live with their hair looking like this:

I recently made a major change in the tussled tresses department. I have essentially had the same hair for 2-3 years... though to be fair, for the majority of that half the hair wasn't mine (shout out to white girl weave). It was long-ish and ombre (grown out 90's blonde I am too lazy to keep up) and boring! I needed change... Perhaps it is my background in hair... perhaps it is the fact that there is nothing more satisfying than instant gratification, but you guys... I really wanted to chop all of my hair off! Don't worry, I'm not about to pull a Miley, but I mean, Alexa Chung has pretty great hair right? I just needed something with a little more pizzaz!

Texture, density, damage, and bone structure are all things to consider when you are looking at getting your tresses trimmed. In this case, I have fine hair, but lots of it (though the fact that I shaved off one side a year ago and have since let it grow out, has diminished my manes presence), I hadn't had a proper hair cut in a while (to put it gently) and I have a squoval face (square jaw, oval forehead). I needed to find a cut that would help heal the damage (remove length), but still flatter my face shape... the magical moment (of deciding to lop 6+ inches off my hair) was the moment I saw this little number:

What do you think? I realize there is a fine line between undone-classy-cool and mom-bob-blah, thankfully I know some pretty talented people in the industry who (I hope) would never steer me wrong, and will guide my unkempt locks in the proper direction . And what can I say? I was ready to take the plunge and when push came to shove I was not disappointed; I am absolutely in love with my short tresses.

Change is scary, but you guys, it's just hair (IT WILL GROW BACK [and if I get impatient, WHITE GIRL WEAVE to the rescue!]).

So tell me, what hair are you currently aspiring to?!

xx

p.s. you must read this! If you were Disney Princess obsessed as a child, like yours truly; go read the 22 Lies Disney Told About Hair! It is just too good.
