Getting your 'feelings hurt' has much different repercussions as an adult. We mope and feel sorry for ourselves much like a five year old, but the difference is that five year olds get over things FASTER than we (the grown ass adults) do.
Sticks and stones grow bigger and heavier, the bigger and heavier we become... I mean, if someone makes a negative comment about your work, your wardrobe, the food you made, the way you are doing something, your whole day (week, month) can be ruined. We are (as my friend Becky says) butt hurt over the smallest things. I am in the same boat guys, I am not about to pretend that I am exempt from a good ol brood sesh. However, while I know there are times this feeling is (semi) unavoidable, there are also times where we choose to live (wallow) in the pain because then people will feel sorry for us. As kids your parents tell you that you need to 'get over it', but as an adult manners keep people from looking you in the eye and telling you to 'grow the fuck up!'...which is kinda what we need sometimes.
For the days you are feeling a little low, I'm gunna send some good juju your way. You may not be the most popular, but you are loved deeply by those in your life. Your boss may be a dick neck, but you are talented and good at your job. You are beautiful, you are strong, you are worth peoples time and attention (yeah, I have told you these things before and I will tell them to you again... we all need to hear them from time to time [I'm half writing them to myself guys... soooo]).
Be bold enough to stand back up, dry your eyes, (curse a little) and go back out there! You've got this champ! I'm here rooting for you... though if you can't find me, I'm grabbing a snack from the concessions stand.
xx
