Every choice we make, whether it be a new friendship, life goal or career decision, is an investment into the Bank of Self (BoS for short). This bank, much like a real bank, takes deposits and gives loans. Sometimes these things go well and we hit emotional pay dirt, other times they don't go well at all and we find ourselves filing chapter 15. This happens when we over extend ourselves, depleting the reserves we have worked so hard to create.**
We invest our time, energy and resources. Our passions, our hopes, our dreams, our vision and creativity. We pour our hearts and souls into things, investing pieces of ourselves, crossing our fingers that it will all work out in the end.
Today, my darling readers, I want to know what you do when these things- these friendships, jobs, projects- don't go according to plan... How do you (gracefully) bow out?
I find myself at a cross roads. I have been looking at the numbers and things aren't quite adding up with a few of my vested interests. But I am stuck. My heart and my head are locked into a debate over what is 'right' right now and what will be the best move for the future.
The crux of it is, I simply can't know. Some things pan out and others don't, that is a fact of life. The key then, is how we handle ourselves in these transitions.
If you are BoS pro, by all means I would love some investment tips.
xx
*This is worth my investment, every time. Being on set, doing what I love... it is magic.
**Allow me to nerd out on you for a second... All this would be solved if our BoS were like Gringotts, the (fictional) bank in Harry Potter. If our emotional state was guarded by Goblins and Dragons, and other magical creatures, I think we would be pretty set... Just saying.
