Never in my life did I dream that I would be writing the words that I am about to place upon this page (...screen). Not that what I am going to say is bad or confessional... it is simply something that, to most, would seem ordinary, if not boring. I have decided to start a little section on the blog about the things we take for granted.
First up: PARKING
OH MY LORD! You guys! Parking!!! Who knew!? I mean... as a kid you get in the car, you ride in the car, the driver parks the car, you get out and go on with your day. As an adult parking is everything! Scoring a spot close to the entrance of Trader Joes (hell scoring a spot AT ALL) is like striking gold. Seriously, you can watch people high five and do a touchdown dance in their cars upon shifting into 'park'.
People base their entire adult lives around parking.
Where will I live? Does it have good parking? Street or covered? Garage or lot? Free or paid?
Where will we go to dinner? Will we have to Valet? Is there a garage close by? Will we be going after the meters turn off?
Don't even get me started on street sweeping days. I swear people come home from work early just to get a parking spot on the 'right' side of the street! If you come home after 6 pm good luck parking within a block of your house.
Also, while on the subject, can we just pause to talk about parking signs?! I am convinced they are encrypted; Louie knows, it is almost impossible to understand the numbers and symbols woefully staring back at you.
And parking people! Like, ok... I get it... you are just trying to do your job. BUT SERIOUSLY!? Do you need to stand and watch peoples meters run out? Honestly, what is our world coming to.
But, what are you going to do? Not drive? Not own a car!? I mean... while I wish that were an option in my life it isn't. For those of you who live in places with great public transportation I envy your good fortune. For the rest of you, good luck and best wishes in all of your parking endeavors.
