I haven't written one of these in ages! But seeing that it is Thanksgiving in the US tomorrow I thought it appropriate. Obviously I am thankful for things on a daily basis (or perhaps that isn't obvious, in which case I need to change some things...) but there is nothing wrong with having a reminder to snap your focus back onto the good things in life. And so...
-TODAY I AM THANKFUL FOR-
Drew... he is kind of my favorite person... no offense to anyone else out there.
Fresh Air... not the show on NPR, literal fresh air
My friends/community, near and far
My job... I get to play with hair... for a LIVING... what!?
Cooking/Baking all the things
Guacamole
Chipotle Chicken... my latest cooking obsession
Mastered with Sam McKnight, shout out to continuing education
Yoga, every day
The Nike Training Club App
My health... full disclosure I have a lot of weird health issues that I tend to avoid dealing with (I know... not the best plan) BUT I am thankful that today I woke up, I can walk, I can breath, I can see, hear, talk, etc. It is a gift and I am grateful.
Music
Food... all of it.
Mountains, Camping, Hiking
Singing in the shower
My home... I love being home so much guys... it is a problem.
Family, literal and chosen.
Life, Humanity, Breath, Hope, Love, Peace, Dreams... GUH! I'm feeling sappy, can you tell?
...
Going into Thanksgiving I can feel a little resentful sometimes. It's like someone telling me I have to be in love on Valentines day... it makes me not want to feel that way. However, in spite of all that may not feel amazing at the moment, things that aren't going as planned, broken down cars, and frustrating situations, I am thankful for having a life worth living. There is beauty in the struggle, hope in dark. There is so much going on in our world and if we don't cling to that truth the dark will settle in and take over.
Today I am thankful for the light inside of me and the light inside of you.
Namaste.
xx
*Photo is a bts from a shoot I did with Aaron Smith, Lwany Smith and Jessie Bishop... all of whom are amazing and I am beyond thankful (and honored) to be able to work with them.
