How is it that something once thought to be good, can, in the blink of an eye, become tarnished?
Is everything in our lives like milk? Does it all have an expiration date? Going sour at a certain time, never to recover?
Friendships, jobs, family members, restaurants, athletic teams (the Wings are timeless, lets be honest), becoming bitter in memory. Why? I’m not sure. I realize that not everything leaves a bad taste in our mouths, not everything curdles in our minds, but why must anything ’go bad’?
Why can’t things be more like Twinkie’s or Jiff Peanut Butter? Having a shelf life that defies time and logic (you guys, I am writing this at lunch time, pardon the food analogies, but I’m not sorry about it… soooo).
Perhaps it is just a mental condition, developed by generations predisposition to moving and constantly changing. But maybe, just maybe, we can have a balance of both? Like a peanut butter cookies and milk, harmonizing and devoured; our lives lived as we go along, sweet and wonderful. Maybe then, we can look back and remember things with fondness, rather than with the far too familiar tinge of bitterness.
