STREET STYLE

A thought on this thing we call 'Street Style'.... isn't all fashion (other than couture, lingerie, and evening wear) technically 'street style'? I mean... you wear your clothing out and about and presumably at some point you will be spotted by someone walking down the street. Am I wrong?! Also what happens to 'street style' when you wear it indoors?! Do the clothes transform? Do they fall off your body in rebellion and run back outside? I mean... they need to be in their natural habitat right?

Ok moving on... yes, there is a certain caliber of fashion that we regard as 'street style'. It is well put together, trendy and often times fashion forward. It is also classic, chic, and simple (or complex and over the top)... it is worn by trend setters, models off duty, and celebrity, so says the internet and every fashion site there in. It is exclusively inclusive... they say "Try this trending street style look"... but I was wearing that 'trending' look as a normal look before street style was ever a thing (shout out to the canadian tuxedo with boyfriend jeans).

I'm not here to cast shade, I am genuinely just curious where fashion is heading... what the next 'thing' will be now that the bloggerati has infected the style world. Who do we look to? Were do we turn? Who will be the next beacon of light in an overly stylize world? Personally I am hoping for a rebirth of Vogue to be what it once was... but perhaps there is a silent observer... an up and coming force that will take the fashion world by storm.

Be patient, change is coming. Until then keep wearing your 'street styles' hoping someone will notice**.
