BLINK

I blinked and realized 27 years of my life have past...

I blinked and 2015 was already 1/4 over...

I blinked and felt my mind enter my body, in the present and think, "wait...how the f*&^ is this happening?"

How am I 27? How is it 2015!?

I now understand my mother. She used to say that when you grow up life moves much faster (I'm sure I've quoted her on this before). In the foolishness of youth we all think, "life going 'fast' would be me having a car, my own apartment, and being able to do whatever I want WHENEVER I want without rules! But also I'm 5, so that reality is FOREVER away!"... you guys, I'm not 5 anymore and the gap of time between that reality and this one feels like the grand canyon and a crack in the sidewalk balled into one (impossibly large and perfectly small).

The other day a friend of mine was recounting the story of her "month from hell" ...you know  what I mean... she was having one of those months where NOTHING goes right and EVERYTHING goes wrong. Her specific circumstances however, left me seriously questioning just how much time we have on this earth and what we are doing with it. She is fine now, whole and healthy, but last fall, this friend fell 50 feet of the face of a mountain (no net, no ropes, you do the math) got hit on her vespa by a CAR and got diagnosed with SKIN CANCER! And you were just about to get mad because Starbucks got your order wrong... I mean... perspective changes everything does it not?

Obviously we can't just bliss out and say "f*&^ it" to normal life, we do need to eat and working a job that will pay you is probably a good idea... but working a job you like may not be a bad idea, do you feel me? Choosing to do the things you actually want to do... living with intention... changing your definition of fear! We are SO afraid, and for what?! Bruce Kramer (may he rest in peace) recently said in an interview, "The opposite of love is not hate, but fear"... Fear keeps us from living, fear keeps us from love... So I ask you, what will fear get you that LIVING and CHOOSING to be brave won't? This isn't to say scary/hard/painful/frustrating things won't happen... but it is to say we have a choice in how we handle it.

I am floored by the light and life inside people who choose to LIVE and live well... perhaps it is time I become one of them. What do you say? Are you with me?

xx

*Please note life is beautiful and wonderful, full of magic, grace, and endless possibility

**I snapped this photo on set a while back. The beautiful model blinked to rest her eyes and it showed off a different side of the look I had created... there is something rather peaceful about it. p.s. #nofilter (lol)
