DRY CLEANING

It is official... I am an adult.

Why, you may be wondering, am I just now officially an adult!? Well my darling readers, it is (partially) because I am now one of those people who takes things to the DRY CLEANER on a (semi) regular basis. I feel so grown up! It is the laundry worlds version of graduation or bat mitzvah, a mile marker on the laundry list that is life (pun intended).

At first I felt strange taking my literal dirty laundry to someone and requesting they lift the stains and press out the wrinkles. BUT you guys, I am addicted... it is just the best feeling when you collect your items and they are PERFECT! I will admit it, I can't do that shit, I can't get out set in stains or iron things with militant precision, I just don't have the patients, it's not my spiritual gift.

Also the woman who runs my dry cleaner is the cutest human being alive! She scolds me for staining my clothes in the first place and smiles when I bring in things of Drews to get cleaned saying, "ohhhh so sweeeeet, how is yoouuuur hussssbannnd?" I get the feeling that this kind, gentle woman has the spirit of a sleeping dragon resting within and I, for one, never want to wake it up. When I reach to take my items from the bar at the counter, she often smacks my hands, making me carry out the freshly laundered items with the same tender love and care as you would carry a freshly born child. She takes absolute pride in her work and I can't blame her- it is flawless!  I would smack someone for putting wrinkles into a perfectly pressed shirt too, so I'm not mad when she 'gently' reminds me to take better care of my belongings.

I can't help but think how amazingly satisfying their work must be; instant gratification hanging with in thousands of clear plastic garment bags. Don't get me wrong, I know it is hard work... but sometimes I day dream about what it would be like to see what you accomplished in a day, hanging before you, the image of perfection.

xx
