There are times when life simply hits you with resistance... every day when you wake up for instance. The temptation to hit 'snooze' is overwhelming, "just five more minutes" really adds up...not to mention the dreaded moment you hit 'off' instead of snooze and wake in a state of shear panic which is usually reserved for life threatening situations. Or how about the times when you need to get something done, literally everything else seems far more appealing (as we have discussed before, if you find me cleaning my closet you know I'm deep in avoidance).
I am simultaneously polishing my nails, writing this, making dinner plans, sending emails, and planning a trip RIGHT NOW... At this very moment... why you may ask, GOOD QUESTION! I am 90% sure it is because I am avoiding the things I actually need to do today, while hiding behind the guise of 'productivity'; it's brilliant really, but also just the worst.
The fact is, if I stand up, head out the door and move towards the things I am SUPPOSED to be doing I will feel better... because sitting here is making my brain feel like it has been dipped in acid. You know the feeling I'm referring to right?!
Drew told me of this woman he read about the other day. She works from home, but, each morning she goes for a walk around the block first thing as her daily 'commute'. Amazing right? She gets out, stretches, and starts the day with forward movement, launching her into a more productive morning. She is now my hero. Not that we all have this luxury... but the concept could work for all of us. What can you do to propel yourself towards the day you need to have? What can I do?
Ok fine I will take my own advice...I will stand up and get going, but I won't be happy about it. Wish me luck (as I wish if for you).
xx
