ITS THE MOST WONDERFUL TIME OF THE YEAR

What is it about peonies? Pink peonies in particular... I mean people plan their entire lives around them. You think I'm exaggerating, but I'm not.

Go ask any bride getting married in the spring why she chose that time of year and I would wager my left pinky toe that peonies have something to do with it. I hate to break it to you, but you guys, Blair (Waldorf that is) was not the first bride to plan her wedding day smack in the middle of this sacred season, nor will she be the last. It is a thing, pretty sure Mrs.Potts was singing about brides and their bouquets not true love because this f****in tale is older than time.

So again I ask, what is it about the illustrious peony that has all women, and the Queen B up in arms? I mean... they are just flowers right? WRONG! Their slender stems hold more perfection than Kate Moss's lower half could ever dream. They eat flawless for breakfast! And women feel their hearts go full on 'Wrecking Ball' for 6-8 weeks every year when these betties bloom.

I must confess, I don't get it. I don't want to love them, but I DO. I can't help it. It is a sickness and the cure comes in perfect little balls which burst into pure happiness before bowing out and ceremoniously drooping to their deaths. It is tragic, but you know what, the circle of life, it's real.

Perhaps it is the fact that these rouge rubbed stunners are rooted in Greek mythology, perhaps it is the fact that they represent riches, honor, romance and are considered an omen for good fortune and a happy marriage (obviously this isn't true because Blairs pink peony bouquet did not save her from her catastrophic, sham of a wedding to Louie... then again Chuck did bring her peonies and Ladurée macarons that one time... so maybe there is hope?). What ever the case may be, they are mother cussing beautiful and I will love them forever. Le Sigh.

Side note, do you know what else I don't get? Snow cones... but that is another story for another day.

xx

p.s. did you know there are oxblood colored peonies!? I mean... I got these banging blended ones from TJs the other day, but shiiiiiitttt I am on the prowl for some of those oxy gems.
