Infinite possibility… mystery is the catalyst for imagination… mystery is more important than knowledge…

JJ Abrams spoke these words while leading you through the most fascinating ideas of how the worldis vs. how it could be while giving a TedTalk some years ago. He offers the idea that if we simply allow for mystery to exist in our lives, so much more can happen. If we feel hope, dream, and wonder, how much greater could it all become?

It’s strange because even though I still have great hope for this year, the ideas that I had thought to be so finite for launching the greatness to come, may not be as solid as I had once thought. My immediate response? Panic. I currently have 4 emails sitting in my draft box to several major agencies in the greater Los Angeles area because I want to make something happen… but then, as the keys clicked together, forming words, placing together tactile, eloquent sentences, I began to doubt. Why was I writing these emails? Are they going to take me where I want to go? Or would they take me where I once thought I should be? Both, I think.

Some may argue that we should know things absolutely. Some say that we must have all the answers, things should be set in concrete, and once you have reached a certain point you should simply stop… I agree with none of that. I always want to question and learn (I am currently sitting under the tutelage of some of the worlds greatest influencers via Ted right now and I love it!) I want to grow and change. How can one change if they are set in stone? Not to mention the idea of becoming stagnent haunts my dreams and makes me sweat.

I realize by feeling the panic and allowing the fear to set in I am merely reacting, a defense mechanism of sorts. I think perhaps the modern day version of the “kill or be killed” gene becomes stronger in these instances, turning regular people into vicious power hungry manics who want to hunt, claw, climb their way through the masses to the ever illusive idea of success.

Not to mention if you are blinded by the fear and furry of success, how can there be any mystery? I’m not saying we should all become drum circle hippies and allow for the Universe to solely take care of all of our wants and needs, but maybe we should trust our instincts and face the reality that things WILL work out. It may take some leg work, no, it WILL take some leg work, a lot of it in fact, but trusting in the path you have chosen, even if it is really f-ing hard, will pay off in the end.
