This PSA goes out to everyone who has ever experience insta-anxiety.
Dear social media obsessed world,
No ones life looks as good in reality as it does on instagram. They aren't having the best time ever because you aren't there. They don't enjoy their coffee more because it is styled and photographed before they drink it. No one actually gets to snuggle in bed and READ with their morning cup of jo (... do you realize how hard that is!?). AND while I love a good food photo, not every meal is picture perfect (nor is every OOTD guys... come on!).
I am so guilty of 'posing' my breakfast, holding things to photograph them in a 'cool' way and making my day look FAR more glamours then it really is... to tell you the truth we ALL do it these days (don't lie, you do it too).
Instagram, while I love it, should have a disclaimer that reads-
This App is highly addictive.
Possible side affects include: FOMO, anxiety, depression, self deprecation, fear, loneliness, body dysmorphia, sadness, and anger. Other side affects may include: cramping (from taking selfies and holding your body in unnatural positions), loss of time and experience in the real world.
Obviously, instagram IS amazing. I mean... sharing photos was the only reason I ever used facebook (back in the day). It brings people together, connects you to a whole world that is far outside the confines of the city you live in or the job you work. It is brilliant, but perhaps, we all need to remember... as with anything... it may be best in moderation (maybe).
