Dear Fashionistas (ok... I just died a little... I truly hate that word),
I have a thought for you. Take it or leave it.
Just because you can wear something, doesn't mean you should.
Also, just because something is trending doesn't mean it is actually fashionable.
We are in the final throws the fashion week (month) flood, a semi-natural force of nature which creates beauty and chaos wherever it goes. Some of the things hitting the runways for Spring 2015 are breath taking... other items not so much...which is how things tend to go. There are a lot of references to the 70s, the 90s, the hippie chic movement, military forms, and layered block shaping; you can feel the sense of desperation to be 'original' radiating from the runways.
I recently interviewed a friend for a project and he told me the best quote... "Stop trying so damn hard to be different, just be." PREACH!
That thought makes me want to shout "You do you boo!", "Wear what works on your body", "Find what feels good and rock it!". I want to tell people to take risks and try things (of course!) but there is no shame in having a signature look... it certainly makes getting dressed a hell of a lot easier! Just because something is simple doesn't mean it is 'less' (that is a whole can of worms we could crack open about our views on ourselves as well, am I right!?) After all a t-shirt and jeans can be sexy and chic, it's all in how you style it.
If you aren't caught up on all the runway magic style.com has you covered. Go, be inspired, take what you like and leave the rest.
Remember, above all, if you wear it with confidence and walk like you own it, you WILL look good in (almost) anything.
xx
