TOO MUCH

I truly believe (for the most part) in the old adage which states- "everything is good, in moderation" Obviously this does not apply to things such as heroine, cocaine, meth, murder, and Ed Hardy apparel. However, most things in food, fashion, and recreational activities are best done in moderation.

There is an area in my life, that may be a bit too excessive... that I feel, takes over from time to time, and I don't know that I am ok with it (don't worry I don't have a drug habit or a secret eating disorder I can't seem to kick [though my love of tortilla chips is a tad bit worrisome]). I am an over thinker. I obsess over things for far too long. This of course attaches to my option giving personality, and then we really find ourselves in a pickle (sorry, I'm not sorry for using the term 'pickle').

I play out every possible moment, fold and unfold scenarios in my mind; what would be best? How will it work? Will it go smoothly?

In the end, I am left with a headache and further from where I need to be than when I started. It is terrible!

Obviously, I need to learn to let things go, which I am working on, and as cliche (and Californian) as it may sound, yoga is really helping me to work on that. It is my moderator, when I feel overwhelmed, suffocated by the crashing waves of thoughts over powering my mind (I promise I am not as unstable as that makes me sound), I breath, slow deep breaths. Oxygen brings life and clarity into our lunges, into our hearts and minds. It calms the sea of thought and quiets the voices clamoring for our attention.

In the moments you feel overwhelmed. Breath.

When you feel stressed. Breath.

When it all feels like too much. Breath.

Find peace, find clarity, and then call a therapist.

*The photo at the top of this post is from a moment of clarity in my life. I was working on Big Bear with a group of the most amazing people. We were all tired and hungry, but as the sun was setting we took a moment, drew in everything around us, and knew we were all where we were meant to be.
